J. Bruce Burley, DDS, FAGD
Dr. Bruce Burley, who is now retired from dentistry, is honored to be the founder of Hagerstown Smiles Dental Care. He loves that Hagerstown Smiles continues to be driven by a servant mentality and a core value of paying it forward and, as a water and nature lover, leaving a “positive wake.” He and Connie still live in Washington County. Dr. Bruce continues to “fill in” here at Hagerstown Smiles when he is needed, but is enjoying his time pursuing many hobbies and interests outside of dentistry, including spending time with his children: Brandon and Allison, and is 4 grandchildren: Carter, Kasen, Blake, and Everett.
After graduating from Williamsport High School, Dr. Burley attended Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology, cum laude. It was at Wake Forest that he met his wife, Connie, who was also a Biology major. Dr. and Mrs. Burley continue to be “proud to be Demon Deacons." Dr. Burley earned his D.D.S. degree from the University of Maryland Dental School, Baltimore College of Dental Surgery in 1986. While at the University of Maryland Dental School, he was selected as a member of Gorgas Odontological Honor Society and the Gamma Pi Delta Prosthodontic Honor Society. He also served as co-editor of the Dental School yearbook. Dr. Bruce Burley practiced family and cosmetic dentistry in Washington County beginning in 1986. During this time continued to spend hours reading and taking continuing education courses related to dentistry. These post-graduate continuing education achievements have awarded Dr. Burley a Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry (F.A.G.D.), recognizing him as a leader and example of the importance of quality continuing dental education to patient care. Dr. Burley is also a member of the American Dental Association and the Washington County Dental Society, having served as past president and past secretary of the dental society.
Dr. Bruce continues to be active in the local community and in his church. He is most proud to have worked with his dental team at Hagerstown Smiles Dental Care in the establishment of many Dentistry From The Heart days over several years. Through these days, and with the assistance of friends, patients and dental personnel in the area, HSDC Dentistry From The Heart days were able to provide over $300,000 in free dental care to those less fortunate. In addition, HSDC has provided dental care to our military veterans. Continuing emphasis on paying forward our blessings at Hagerstown Smiles Dental Care in the form of monthly charity chairpersons is a testament to the core values of Hagerstown Smiles Dental Care. Team members apply and are selected monthly to organize giving to their respective charities, and is a meaningful part of being a team member at Hagerstown Smiles.
J. Brandon Burley, DDS
Dr. Brandon Burley is excited to have joined his dad in practice to serve the Hagerstown area. Brandon attended Boonsboro elementary, middle, and high schools, and went on to the University of Maryland at College Park, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, magna cum laude. While at the University of Maryland, Brandon enjoyed participating in many intramural sports teams, as well as the University of Maryland club soccer team. Brandon was a member of the Life Sciences Scholars program and other honor societies including Mortar Board, Phi Kappa Phi, NSCS, and Golden Key.
Dr. Brandon Burley earned his DDS degree from the University of Maryland Dental School, Baltimore College of Dental Surgery in 2010, graduating with honors as he was elected to both Gorgas Odontological Honor Society and the Gamma Pi Delta Prosthodontic Honor Society, serving as secretary his senior year. Once Brandon began private practice in Hagerstown, he served as President of the Washington County Dental Society from 2013-2015. Dr. Brandon is a member of the American Dental Association, the Maryland State Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry.
When not occupied with dental practice, Brandon enjoys spending time with his wife, Ashley, and their children, Blake and Everett. Brandon also enjoys playing soccer and piano. Brandon feels blessed to have had the mentorship of his dad, Bruce, and to be able to practice dentistry in such a wonderful office and community.
Brandy Behrens, DDS
Dr. Brandy Behrens is thrilled to be a part of the Hagerstown Smiles team. Having grown up in a small town in northern New York, Dr. Brandy feels right at home here in Hagerstown. Brandy attended the University of Delaware, where she graduated with honors in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology. While at Delaware, she enjoyed volunteering, working as a campus tour guide, and cheering on the “Fightin’ Blue Hens” football team.
Dr. Brandy earned her DDS degree from the University of Maryland Dental School Baltimore College of Dental Surgery in 2013. During her time at the dental school, Dr. Brandy was involved in the Gamma Pi Delta Prosthodontic Honor Society, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the American Association of Women Dentists.
Outside of the office, Brandy spends time with her husband, Dan, and their children, Amelia and Evan. They live in Hagerstown and enjoy spending time outdoors and caring for their flock of backyard chickens. Dr. Brandy is proud to serve the dental needs of the Hagerstown community with care and compassion.
Kyle Briggs, DDS
Dr. Kyle Briggs is excited to join the Hagerstown Smiles team and return to his hometown in Washington County. Kyle graduated from Boonsboro High School before he went on to the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC), where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Economics, cum laude. While at UMBC, Kyle enjoyed playing club lacrosse, volunteering through Mission of Mercy, being a peer health educator through University Health Services and holding leadership roles in the Pre-Dental Society and Global Dental Brigades.
Dr. Briggs earned his DDS degree from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. During his time in dental school, Kyle was involved in the President’s Student Leadership Institute, Academy of General Dentistry, Project Jumpstart, and spent his senior year in a special care and geriatrics clerkship.
Outside of the office, Kyle enjoys spending his time at home with his Shiba Inu, Geno, and cooking. When he is not home, he can be found in Pittsburgh cheering on the Steelers and Penguins or enjoying the outdoors whether it be snowboarding or hunting and fishing. Dr. Briggs is proud to serve his home community with a patient centered and empathetic approach.
Christine Lee, DMD
Dr. Christine Lee is excited to join the Hagerstown Smiles team and return to her home state of Maryland. Dr. Lee attended the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, where she graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and minor in Environmental Science.
Dr. Lee went on to receive her DMD degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. During her time in dental school, Dr. Lee was active in her efforts to promote sustainability in dentistry by establishing a toothbrush recycling program. She also enjoyed working as a teaching assistant for pre-clinical prosthodontic and pediatric courses as well as the undergraduate clinics. While at Tufts, Dr. Lee completed an externship at Harvard Street Neighborhood Health Center, attending to the underserved communities in the greater Boston area.
In her free time, Dr. Lee enjoys art, reading, yoga, running and exploring the outdoors. Dr. Lee is excited serve the Hagerstown community with compassionate and patient-centered care.
